GREEN SPRINGS RANCH - FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

TREE CLEARANCE
Trees need to be trimmed 14 feet above the roads and 6 feet back from the road edges. Fourteen feet provides sufficient clearance for motor homes, trailers, heavy equipment, and emergency vehicles to travel our roads without the risk of potential damage.
As per the Roadside Tree Maintenance section of the Green Springs Ranch CC&Rs: "All trees shall be trimmed and maintained in such a manner as to provide fourteen (14) feet of clearance above the roads and, if possible, six (6) feet of clearance from the sides of the roads. Dead trees or limbs that have the potential of falling in the roadway shall be removed."
ROADSIDE FIRE BREAKS - BY JUNE 1st
-
Each landowner will maintain a 30 foot fire break from the road. This break will not apply to areas that contain improved and maintained landscaping. This break is for areas that are unimproved and in a wild condition. (GSRLA Association Rule 6)
-
Each homeowner will maintain 100 feet of defensible space around their homes. (GSRLA Association Rule 6)
In addition, the El Dorado County Good Neighbor and Neighborhood Protection Policy requires property owners to establish 100 feet of defensible space around structures*. If a structure is close to a boundary line, the policy mandates that the adjacent landowner must clear hazardous vegetation that poses a fire hazard within 100 feet of the structure.
Check out the Defensible Space Ordinance page by the El Dorado County Office of Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience for more details.
* A structure is defined as any building that qualifies for occupancy classification per the County building code and includes: residential dwellings, mobile homes, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, agricultural buildings, barns, storage buildings, government buildings, and accessory buildings. However, freestanding buildings such as sheds or other outbuildings that are 120 sq. ft. or less in floor area are not considered structures. (El Dorado County Chapter 8.09 FAQ)
